The Heirloom Card Holder in Tyrian is made from Japanese shell cordovan and lined with full-grain French goatskin. Slim, structured and produced in limited numbers, it is designed for everyday carry and holds three cards in total, with space for folded notes in the central pocket.

The shell cordovan is tanned by Shinki Hikaku, then hand-dyed and finished by Leder Ogawa. From the first cut to the finished edge, each piece is made in our atelier in Sweden. The seams are saddle-stitched by hand with linen thread, and the edges are sanded and hand-painted to a glossy finish.

The construction brings twelve material layers into a six-millimeter profile, with shell cordovan outside, reinforcement between and goatskin within. With daily handling, the shell cordovan exterior gains polish and tonal depth.

Shell Cordovan

Shell cordovan comes from the shell, a dense fiber layer in the hindquarters of a horsehide. Each hide yields two small shells, which keeps supply limited and makes shell cordovan one of the rarest leathers in production.

Ours is vegetable tanned in Himeji, Japan, by Shinki Hikaku, one of the world's leading horsehide tanneries. The tanning alone takes several months. The shells are then hand-dyed and finished by Leder Ogawa, a specialist in aniline cordovan. The dye penetrates the shell rather than resting on its surface, so the depth of the material stays visible. With use, the surface gains polish.

French Goatskin

The lining is full-grain goatskin from Mégisserie Jullien, a French tannery that has worked goat leather in Chabris since the 1920s. It is counted among the finest goatskins in the world, tight in grain, supple and strong for its weight. The satin surface stands up to cards sliding in and out, keeps the interior smooth over years of use and adds almost nothing to the slim profile.

Each card holder arrives in a protective dust bag, placed in our signature presentation box and tied with a ribbon. If the piece is a gift, it is ready as it arrives.

Care

Shell cordovan asks for restraint. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth and keep the piece away from prolonged moisture. If it becomes damp, let it dry naturally away from direct heat. The slots are cut for three cards, and keeping within that preserves their tension. Light marks often soften with gentle brushing and handling, settling into the patina.
