That choice makes each piece unique in character, built to endure, and finished with nuances no machine can reproduce. We uphold disciplines rarely mastered as a testament to our commitment to excellence.
The first decision
Our artisans start by selecting the finest section of the hide, free of scars and weak points. They study the leather’s character before setting the first line with a steady hand. Once the blade meets leather, there is no going back.
A hidden refinement
The foundation begins with precise paring. Leather is thinned only where structure calls for it. Skived to exact thickness, folds lie clean and layers align. Each pocket is reinforced to form a twelve-layer cardholder without bulk.
The seam’s compass
Stitching excellence begins even before thread meets leather. A classic pricking iron sets a rhythm of fine, even impressions to guide the awl and the hand.
Framing the piece
With a heated creaser, our artisans draw precise borders that frame the piece. Heat compacts the grain, giving cordovan a crisp, pronounced line and chèvre a clean, even track.
Sealing the contour
Every cut edge is hand-painted to a smooth, sealed contour in deep black. Countless fine coats, each lightly sanded, yield a polished edge that resists wear and becomes the House’s unmistakable signature.
A seam for life
Our artisans stitch every seam by hand using the saddle stitch. The method is centuries old and takes hours to complete. Two needles share one thread, and each pass locks into the next. Even if a thread breaks, the seam holds.
